Now that my local election is over, a few thoughts:
1) I noticed a tremendous amount of career politicians on the local docket. And by career I mean, these folks have been involved with, running, and/or elected for many years.
2) In most races it was career politician A verses career politician B. In some cases candidates ran uncontested. There was only one first timer. (In my district.)
3) The replacing of judges, seems to me, should be a constant. It keeps the system objective and minimizes bureaucracy and complacency. Were any judges replaced? How do we know the results?
Local politics, much like education, seems to be a place for the unsuccessful, the mid-life crisis, and the agenda.
I was excited to see so many young people involved this year.
